Pak India Historical Conflicts

 The India-Pakistan conflict is a longstanding dispute that began in 1947 when both countries gained independence. The core issue is the Kashmir region, which both countries claim in its entirety.

Historical Conflicts:

The 1947 War: 

Also known as the First India-Pakistan War, it started when Pakistan feared the Maharaja of Kashmir would accede to India. The war resulted in the creation of the Line of Control, with India controlling about two-thirds of the state and Pakistan controlling roughly one-third.

-The 1965 War:

 Pakistan's Operation Gibraltar aimed to spark an insurgency in Indian-administered Kashmir, but India launched a full-scale military response, leading to a 17-day war. The conflict ended with a ceasefire and the Tashkent Declaration.

- The 1971 Liberation War :

 This war was triggered by the political crisis in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh. India intervened in the Bangladesh liberation movement, leading to a war that resulted in the creation of Bangladesh and the surrender of over 90,000 Pakistani troops.

- The 1999 Kargil War :

 Pakistani troops infiltrated the Line of Control, occupying Indian territory. India responded with a military and diplomatic offensive, forcing Pakistan to withdraw its forces under international pressure.

- Siachen Conflict (1984-2003) :

 A military conflict over the disputed Siachen Glacier region in Kashmir.

- 2001-2002 India-Pakistan Standoff :

 A tense standoff following a terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament, which India blamed on Pakistan-based groups.

- 2016-2018 India-Pakistan Border Skirmishes: 

Clashes along the Line of Control following an Indian military operation targeting militant launch pads in Pakistani-administered Kashmir.

- 2019 India-Pakistan Border Skirmishes:

 Aerial battles and strikes between India and Pakistan after a militant attack on Indian forces in Kashmir.

- 2025 India-Pakistan Conflict : 

A brief armed conflict in May 2025, sparked by Indian missile strikes on Pakistan, which Pakistan responded to with its own military operation .
